Murrieta DUI Checkpoint On Aug. 21 Results In 1 Arrest, 39 Citations
Police said 1,151 vehicles were screened during the checkpoint operation.
MURRIETA, CA — One person was arrested and 39 motorists were cited during a DUI and driver's license checkpoint held in Murrieta on Friday, police said.
The checkpoint was staged on Murrieta Hot Springs Road at Whitewood Road from 6 p.m. to 12:15 a.m., resulting in 1,151 vehicles being screened, according to the Murrieta Police Department.

Police said one person was arrested for an outstanding DUI warrant. In addition, 16 motorists were cited for operating a vehicle unlicensed, and 23 citations were issued for various driving violations.
Drivers charged with a first-time DUI can face an average of $13,500 in fines and penalties and have their license suspended.

The DUI checkpoint was funded by the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
