Murrieta Police Pursuit Ends With 3 Behind Bars

Police say a woman was driving under the influence during the brief chase.

MURRIETA, CA - A probationer and another person suspected of snatching property out of parked cars and then attempting to flee from Murrieta police officers were recently arrested and jailed in town. Juan Carlos Aguilar, 24, and Nathalie San Pascual , 22, were arrested Wednesday, along with Ziranda Rodolfo Villasenor, 20, after a chase during which San Pascual was allegedly behind the wheel.

Aguilar was arrested on suspicion of possession of illegal drugs and probation violations, but was released from the Byrd Detention Center in Murrieta on Monday. San Pascual was booked on suspicion of felony evading and driving under the influence and was being held in lieu of $100,000 bail at the Smith Correctional Facility in Banning as of Monday.

Villasenor was arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance and vandalism. He posted a $5,000 bond and was released from the Byrd Detention Center hours after his arrest.

According to Murrieta police Lt. Jon Flavin, patrol officers were alerted to a suspicious vehicle cruising the area of Silverwood Street and Vineyard Parkway about 4 a.m. Wednesday and began looking around until they spotted it.

When a patrol unit signaled the driver to stop, she accelerated, triggering a brief chase that led the suspects onto a cul de sac on Mackenzie Court, where they surrendered without a struggle, Flavin said.

He said after determining Aguilar was on active probation, a search of the car was initiated, leading to the discovery of items allegedly stolen from vehicles parked in the neighborhood where the suspects were originally seen.

The property was seized and returned to the rightful owners, according to Flavin.

Court records show Aguilar has a prior conviction for burglary, while Villasenor has a prior for driving under the influence.

San Pascual has no record of convictions in Riverside County.
