Murrieta Valley Students Show Heart For Troops On Valentine's Day
MVUSD students hand made over 47,300 Valentine's Day cards that have been delivered to veterans and active-duty personnel around the world.
MURRIETA, CA — There's a lot of love in the Murrieta Valley Unified School District. Over the last several weeks, students have been busy handcrafting Valentine's Day cards for military veterans and active-duty personnel.
In total, the kids created over 47,300 sweet memos that have been delivered around the world.
Started 10 years ago by the PTA, the special Valentine's Day project involves all grade levels across the MVUSD district, according to Jessica Molstad, PTA president at MVUSD's Antelope Hills Elementary School. The project shows appreciation for the troops' "selflessness and courage," she said.

Some students even got to witness the impact of their heart-filled creativity. A group of AHES kids took a field trip to VA Loma Linda Healthcare System to hand deliver their cards. The facility offers services to more than 72,000 veterans living in the Inland Empire.
The occasion was special, if not unforgettable.
