Coroner IDs Murrieta Woman Killed In Suspected DUI Benton Road Crash

The 53-year-old woman died at the scene of the crash on Benton Road at Van Gaale Lane. Another driver was arrested at the scene.

MURRIETA, CA — A fatal crash that claimed the life of Trayce White, 53, of Murrieta, was caused by a suspected DUI driver, authorities say, and a Spring Valley woman was arrested at the scene of the crash, California Highway Patrol announced.

Sabrina A. Saucedo, 27, was booked at the Cois Byrd Correctional Facility in Murrieta, where she was held on pending felony charges of DUI causing bodily injury, gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, and DUI of .08 with injury, according to jail records. She was slated to appear in court at the Murrieta Southwest Justice Center on Thursday morning to answer charges.

Just after 8:15 p.m. Sunday, a BMW driven by Saucedo failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of Van Gaale Lane as she traversed eastbound Benton Road. She collided with White's Camry at that intersection, CHP Officer Mike Lassig told Patch.

"The impact caused major damage to both vehicles before they came to rest in the roadway," Lassig said. According to numerous witnesses, evidence of the crash remained at the scene much of Monday.

Officer Lassig would like to remind the motoring public that DUI crashes are preventable. "Always designate a driver a sober driver," he said. "DUIs are 100% preventable. If you drink, don't drive."
