Public Input On Disaster Preparedness Sought By City Of Murrieta
The city is updating its Local Hazard Mitigation Plan and is asking for public comments.

MURRIETA, CA — Like all communities, the city of Murrieta could potentially face widespread devastation in the event of a disaster. To better prepare, the city is developing an updated Local Hazard Mitigation Plan and is asking for public input.
City of Murrieta residents and business owners are encouraged to complete a quick 10-question survey about potential natural and manmade hazards, as well as critical facilities vulnerable to these disasters. View the survey here.
Survey responses will help the city create an updated Local Hazard Mitigation Plan that allows for better preparation and disaster response, city officials said.
Because of the history of disasters throughout California, communities are encouraged to adopt Local Hazard Mitigation Plans. The federal Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000 requires that states review the plans as part of their state hazard mitigation planning process. Having a plan in place ensures the ability to potentially secure federal and state disaster mitigation funding.
City of Murrieta survey responses will be accepted through Dec. 31. For additional information or if you have questions, call Rachel Hollinger at 951-461-6169 or RHollinger@MurrietaCA.gov.
