The crash involved a white SUV and a grey sedan, according to Matt Corelli with the Murrieta Fire Department. The impact of the collision between the two vehicles sent the sedan onto the sidewalk, while the SUV rolled to its passenger side in the middle of the intersection.
"[The sedan] was on the sidewalk with one person trapped inside," Corelli told Patch.

Fire personnel from two engines, a truck and a battalion chief responded to the scene. They used the jaws of life to first cut out the sedan's driver, who was pulled from the wreckage with major injuries, Corelli said. That person was freed within about 15 minutes.
It took fire crews approximately 28 minutes to free the SUV driver, who was then transported to the hospital with minor injuries, according to Corelli. Fire officials say the roof had to be cut off of the SUV to get that driver out.
Police are investigating the crash.
