Strong Winds, Scattered Showers Coming to Murrieta: NWS
Widely varied rainfall amounts could range from less than a quarter- inch to nearly one inch, forecasters said.
RIVERSIDE, CA - Strong winds and scattered showers are expected to develop Wednesday evening in parts of Riverside County, including the Coachella Valley.
A National Weather Service wind advisory for the mountains, the Coachella Valley and the San Gorgonio Pass near Banning is set to take effect at 5 p.m. Wednesday and extend until noon Thursday. Winds of 25 to 35 miles per hour will be possible throughout the advisory period, along with gusts of 45 to 55 mph.

"A low pressure trough will bring strong westerly winds to parts of the mountains and deserts this afternoon through Thursday morning," according to the weather service. "The strongest winds will be along ridgetops and desert slopes of the mountains in Riverside and San Diego counties."
The North Pacific storm system will also likely bring scattered showers and possibly a few thunderstorms over the mountains Wednesday evening into Thursday morning. Widely varied rainfall amounts could range from less than a quarter- inch to nearly one inch, forecasters said.

Blowing dust may skew visibility in some areas, and winds of more than 35 mph can make for locally hazardous travel, according to the NWS.
Forecasters said the winds would gradually decrease Thursday, and partly cloudy and cool conditions were expected Friday through the weekend.
