American Canyon, Parts Of Napa County Under Curfew
Shopping centers, city streets, parks and state Highway 29 are all closed. Parts of Napa County are also under curfew. Here's what to know.
AMERICAN CANYON, NAPA COUNTY, CA — As civil unrest such as looting continues in the Bay Area and across the nation over the death of Minneapolis man George Floyd while he was restrained by police, the city of American Canyon has called a curfew, as has the county of Napa for certain areas. As of 8 p.m. Tuesday, American Canyon "residents are asked to remain in their homes during the curfew hours to assist our local first responders in protecting our community," city officials said.
Under the curfew, residents are asked to remain in their homes from 8 p.m. until 5 a.m. daily through Thursday morning.
City streets and public right-of-way, parks, trails and open spaces, private parking lots and commercial shopping centers, and State Highway 29, are closed to the public during the curfew hours.

In Napa County, a curfew has been called between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. for unincorporated Napa County from State Highway 29/State Highway 12 — Jameson Canyon Road — and all areas south — including the city of American Canyon — east and west to the Napa County Line.
American Canyon city officials said the curfew was proclaimed by the city manager, serving as the city's director of emergency services, as a precautionary measure and based on incidents of mass looting and unlawful protest related to the tragic killing of George Floyd in Minnesota that have turned violent in the region, including in the nearby city of Vallejo and in Santa Rosa.

The curfew is in addition to a local state of emergency that American Canyon City Council was expected to ratify at its regularly scheduled meeting Tuesday night.
"The purpose of the curfew, which is similar to neighboring cities, is to protect our residents and businesses, particularly from out-of-the-area opportunistic looters," city officials said. "American Canyon Police and Napa Sheriff’s office resources will increase staffing levels to help ensure public safety."
American Canyon residents should immediately call 707-253-4451 to report any suspicious activity or 911 in the case of an emergency, according to the city.
Law enforcement will be present throughout the community to provide protection and respond to any needs that may arise.
The order does not apply to people who are traveling directly to and from work or to obtain medical or emergency assistance or to provide care for family members or others, credentialed media representatives engaged in newsgathering, or persons who are experiencing homelessness who remain sheltered in place in a single location.
Napa County Curfew
The county area north of SR 29/SR 12 — Jameson Canyon Road — including the cities of Napa, St. Helena, Calistoga and the Town of Yountville, were not under a curfew as of 5:45 p.m. Tuesday.
The Napa County curfew is in effect Tuesday and Wednesday starting at 8 p.m. and ending at 5 a.m. through Thursday morning; and may remain in effect until it is extended, rescinded, superseded or amended in writing by the county's director of Emergency Services.
According to the Napa County Office of Emergency Services, "while the majority of protestors have acted lawfully, a significant number of people throughout neighboring Bay Area cities and counties, including Vallejo and Solano County, have engaged in criminal behavior, including violence, vandalism of public and private property, looting and failure to follow lawful dispersal orders."
Napa County OES said: "Bay Area cities report that people committing these crimes within their cities live in other jurisdictions and are believed to have travelled to their cities with the express purpose of conducting criminal activity under false pretense, and under cover of lawful and peaceful protest. Our nearby cities of Emeryville, Fairfield and Walnut Creek have experienced criminal activities such as violence, vandalism and looting without ever first experiencing any peaceful and lawful protest."
