NAPA VALLEY, CA — Authorities say a distracted driver caused a late-morning crash when a black SUV veered off the road and slammed into a fully loaded parked asphalt trailer on a Napa roadway.
The impact dislodged a trailer wheel and initially prompting reports of major injuries.
The collision happened about 10 a.m. today when a black SUV veered off the roadway near Diamond Mountain Road and into a parked, fully loaded asphalt trailer at the intersection of California State Routes 12 and 29 in Napa.
The impact ripped the trailer’s left rear wheel free, according to the California Highway Patrol, which later attributed the crash to a distracted driver.
The damage to both vehicles was extensive. Authorities initially reported major injuries. However, CHP spokesman Marc Renspurger later said the drivers were not seriously hurt.
