Body Found By Kayaker Recovered From Napa River: Police

The Napa County Sheriff's Office assisted Napa police with recovering the body from the river north of the Kennedy Park boat launch.

NAPA, CA — Authorities are investigating the death of a person whose badly decomposed body was recovered Wednesday from the Napa River.

A kayaker first saw the body and called the Napa Police Department at 4:52 p.m. Wednesday, according to an incident report supplied Thursday morning by Napa police Lt. Chase Haag.

The kayaker saw the "badly decomposed body" on the east side of the river, a few hundred yards north of the Kennedy Park boat launch, police wrote in the report.

With the assistance of the Napa County Sheriff's Office drone team, boat team and dive team, the body was located and removed, police stated in the report.

Since then, detectives and crime scene specialists with Napa PD have been working to identify the deceased while also searching for evidence along the river and at a homeless camp.
