Body Of Kidnapped Man Found More Than 100 Miles Away Near Napa

A missing man was found near Napa days after disappearing in Tracy, but critical details about how he got there are unclear.

NAPA VALLEY, CA — A man kidnapped last week was found near Lake Berryessa in Napa County — more than 100 miles away from where he was last seen, the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office announced today.

The victim, Avtar Singh, was reported missing on Tuesday night. Deputies took the missing report at 8:52 p.m. in the 16000 block of West Grant Line Road in Tracy, according to the San Joaquin County Sheriff's Office.

“During the investigation, surveillance footage showed a white SUV and three unidentified individuals dressed in dark clothing with the victim at approximately 2:30 PM,” the San Joaquin County Sheriff's Office said, according to a statement on social media. “The victim appeared to enter the vehicle against his will.”

On Friday, the Napa County Sheriff’s Office shut down Highway 128 between Monticello Dam and Wragg Canyon for more than 14 hours during the investigation.

They found a body matching the description of Singh at about 3:20 p.m. on Saturday near Lake Berryessa. However, Napa sheriff's spokesman Henry Wofford said it appeared that Singh did not die in Napa County.
