Celebrated chef tapped to lead the culinary direction for two restaurants at a new Napa Valley resort.

NAPA VALLEY, CA — An upcoming Napa Valley boutique resort tapped a Michelin-starred San Francisco chef to oversee the culinary vision for a signature restaurant and café ahead of the planned opening.

Matthew Accarrino will be the consulting chef for The Elene, a 50-room destination being built between Napa and Yountville, scheduled to open in late 2026.

Accarrino is best known as the chef behind San Francisco's SPQR, which has held a Michelin star for more than a decade. He has also earned multiple James Beard Award nominations during his career.

At The Elene, Accarrino will develop the menus and culinary concept for two restaurants, Vetra and an all-day café, resort officials announced.

Vetra will serve breakfast, lunch, dinner, and bar offerings prepared over an open hearth. The adjacent café will offer breakfast, lunch, and light fare in a casual counter-service setting.

Executive Chef Phillip Moratin will oversee day-to-day kitchen operations and execute Accarrino's culinary blueprint. Moratin brings more than two decades of experience working in Napa Valley restaurants.

The Elene will include 50 guest rooms and suites, a heated vineyard pool, an outdoor hydrotherapy thermal garden, gathering spaces, and a cycling program centered around The Barn, an "on-site adventure hub."

A former professional cyclist, Accarrino will also help shape the resort's cycling program and plans to host group rides along the Napa Valley Vine Trail.

The site will be developed and managed by Mosaic Hotel Collection, whose portfolio includes The Madrona in Healdsburg, North Block Hotel in Yountville, the El Dorado Hotel & Kitchen in Sonoma, the Olema House in Point Reyes, and Campos Polanco in Mexico City.
