The Coors Family Branches Out--in Napa Valley

Adolph Coors' great-great granddaughter has left Golden, Colorado for the Golden State--and she's traded pop tops for wine corks.

The Coors family is synonymous with beer and Colorado. But a family member has left the brewery in Golden for the Golden State--and she’s turned her interests from beer to wine.

Christi Coors Facelli headed straight for the most famous wine region in America when she set her sights on winemaking--the Napa Valley. The Coors family purchased Goosecross Cellars in Yountville.

“My family purchased this place about two-and-a-half years ago and they wanted me to make something of it,” said the soft-spoken Facelli.

She faced a major setback when the Napa quake struck. One sixth of the winery’s inventory was lost when aging barrels came tumbling down.

“We got a lot of offers from people willing to come with straws to soak up all the wine at the barrel facility!”

But Facelli is unfazed, forging ahead in her efforts to gain the respect of both the public and the Napa Valley establishment. Goosecross has just opened a new wine tasting facility with incredible views that invite sipping and lingering.

She hopes the Goosecross name will linger in the minds of wine enthusiasts for as long as the Coors brand has been favored by beer drinkers.
