Domestic Violence Suspect Knocks Out Power In Napa

NAPA VALLEY, CA — A domestic violence report Wednesday morning turned into a car chase that triggered an hours-long power outage for residents of Napa.

Police responded to a domestic violence report just after 8:15 a.m. The situation escalated quickly when the suspect fled the home, stole a vehicle, and triggered a citywide response that ended in a crash and arrest, according to the Napa Police Department.

Officers who responded to the call in the area of Golden Gate Drive found the suspect had already left the residence. Investigators said the suspect drove off in a suspected stolen vehicle, prompting a police chase through city streets.

Police followed the vehicle to the 1400 block of Center Street, where the suspect collided with a power pole, bringing the chase to an abrupt end.

Police, fire, and PG&E crews arrived on the scene as outages spread through the surrounding area for several hours.

Neighbors reported on Facebook seeing two damaged poles and live wires in the street and on the ground.

Officers arrested the suspect at the crash scene. No additional injuries were immediately reported. Authorities have not released the suspect’s name.
