Duo Busted With Stolen Credit Cards, Meth In American Canyon: PD

Officers stopped the pair because they were in a car that matched one involved in recent catalytic converter thefts, police said.

AMERICAN CANYON, CA — Two East Bay residents who had outstanding warrants for their arrests were pulled over Tuesday morning by American Canyon police and found with stolen credit cards and methamphetamine, the city's police chief said.

The duo was stopped around 2:30 a.m. near Danrose and Reed drives when officers spotted a black Chevrolet SUV that matched the description of a vehicle involved in recent catalytic converter thefts from Danrose and Reed drives, police Chief Rick Greenberg said.

The SUV driver, Elsy Vasquez, 29, of San Pablo, gave officers a false name, Greenberg said.

Officers quickly learned that under her real name, Vasquez had a felony warrant for her arrest out of Solano County for possession of stolen catalytic converters.

The passenger, Edgar Gonzalez-Castro, 32, also of San Pablo, had a felony arrest warrant for grand theft out of Contra Costa County.

As Vasquez and Gonzalez-Castro were arrested on their outstanding warrants, officers searched their persons and belongings.

Vasquez had 10 bank cards, none with her name on them, and all were confirmed stolen, Greenberg said.

Gonzalez was found with meth and drug paraphernalia, the chief said.

Vasquez was additionally charged on suspicion of misdemeanor providing false information to a peace officer and felony identity theft.

Gonzalez-Castro was charged on suspicion of misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

Both were booked into Napa County jail.
