Glass Fire In Lake County Nearly Contained: Cal Fire
The vegetation fire is burning along state Highway 29 in the Lower Lake area.
LAKE COUNTY, CA — Firefighters had a vegetation fire burning in Lake County contained at 80-percent Thursday morning. The Glass Fire broke out at about 4:30 p.m. Wednesday in the 8400 block of state Highway 29 at the DNA Rock Ridge Quarry, which is in the Lower Lake area, according to Bruce Lang, spokesperson for Cal Fire's Sonoma-Lake-Napa Unit.
The Glass Fire was 20 acres Thursday morning, according to Lang, who said the cause of the fire remained under investigation.
"The cooler temperatures and higher humidities helped fire crews make significant progress overnight, advancing the containment lines and mitigating hot spots within the fire perimeter," Lang said.
