Hop On The Bus! Local Resident Donates Bus To Boys & Girls Clubs of Napa Valley

Adventures and field trips are on the horizon for the kids of The Boys & Girls Clubs of Napa Valley thanks to their new bus!

Adventures and field trips are on the horizon for the kids of The Boys & Girls Clubs of Napa Valley (BGCNV)! A local resident with a passion for encouraging kids to explore the world around them recently donated a 24-passenger mini-bus to the club. The donor has chosen to remain anonymous.

“Train Town!” “Roller-skating!” “The zoo!” and “Disneyland!” were suggestions made by the cheering kids as the new bus rolled up in front of the BGCNV clubhouse in Napa last week.

Reliable transportation has a big impact on field trip opportunities. Besides the main clubhouse building on Pueblo Avenue, the BGCNV also operates 10 school-site locations throughout Napa and American Canyon, altogether serving approximately 1,200 kids per day.

“This opens up a whole new world of possibilities for these kids,” said BGCNV Executive Director Mark Kuhnhausen, noting that the BGCNV has had to charter buses to transport kids to and from field trips and museums. “The kids are thrilled, and we’re so grateful for this donation. Many kids don’t have the opportunity to participate in activities or discover new places outside of their neighborhoods very often. This bus is a tremendous gift and is a game-changer in the way we can now begin thinking about programs.”
