Major Jackson: "The Invisible Architecture of Poetry"

Major Jackson will give a lecture on the art and craft of poetry as part of the Napa Valley Writers' Conference.

Wednesday, July 27: 9 a.m. - 10 a.m.

Major Jackson is the author of four collections of poetry: Roll Deep (2015); Holding Company and Hoops, both finalists for an NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Literature; and Leaving Saturn, winner of the 2001 Cave Canem Poetry Prize and finalist for a National Book Critics Circle Award. He is also a recipient of a Guggenheim Fellowship, Whiting Writers’ Award and has been honored by the Pew Fellowship in the Arts and the Witter Bynner Foundation in conjunction with the Library of Congress.

Lecture tickets cost $25 per person and may be purchased by cash or check at the door. Or attend all eight conference lectures for a fee of $175, or just the poetry or fiction series (four lectures) for $90.

Students with valid ID are admitted for $15 per lecture. Napa Valley Writers' Conference attendees, supporters, and community housing hosts are admitted for free.
