Napa County DA Returns to Carithers Location After Quake Repairs
Getting back to how things were ... before Aug. 24 ...

News from Napa County:
The Napa County District Attorney’s Office has returned to its pre-earthquake location in the Carithers Building, 931 Parkway Mall, in Napa.
The move signals the first of many county programs returning to their original locations after several facilities were impacted by the Aug. 24 earthquake.

About 400 displaced county employees have been providing community services from other locations since.
“I am very proud of how all members of our office came together under very difficult circumstances following the earthquake; working in temporary close quarters for almost five months,” said District Attorney Gary Lieberstein. “We are very happy to return to our home office and look forward to continuing to do our best to represent and keep our community safe.”

The Carithers Building is expected to be fully reoccupied by the end of summer 2015, according to estimates from the Department of Public Works, returning the Public Defender, Child Support Services, and Assessor Recorder functions to their original locations.
Additionally, a construction project on the third floor of the Administration Building, 1195 Third St., is ongoing to repair extensive damage including water damage and the collapse of walls and ceilings caused by the earthquake.
It is anticipated that repair costs will be covered by insurance and FEMA funding. The Board of Supervisors (BOS), County Counsel, and the County Executive’s Office are expected to return to the downtown Napa location by the end of April – with the first BOS meeting in May scheduled to be held at the Administration Building.
Many displaced county employees were temporarily housed at South Campus (the old Dey Lab facility). As personnel are moved back to their home facilities, construction of the county’s new consolidated Health and Human Services campus will recommence, with a planned move in date of programs by early 2016.
