Napa County Survey Seeks Input On Phone Service During Fires

The survey about cell and landline service during the recent wildfires runs through Nov. 30. Here's how to participate.

NAPA COUNTY, CA – Officials with the county of Napa and the North Bay/North Coast Broadband Consortium are asking community members to participate in a survey about their experiences with landlines and cellular service during the recent wildfires. Napa, Sonoma and Mendocino counties are partnering in the study, the purpose of which is to document the scope of the telecommunications outages that affected the counties during the fires, both within and outside of burn areas.

The survey data will then be part of an comprehensive outage report provided as feedback to telephone service providers and the California Public Utilities Commission — in turn helping build better communication networks during an emergency, Napa County officials said in a news release.

"The recent fires highlight how vital communication is in our community – especially during an emergency," said Kristi Jourdan, county of Napa spokeswoman.
