The Napa nonprofit that most people haven't heard of ...
The Napa Parks & Recreation Foundation to launch "PLAY IT FORWARD"fundraising campaign in support of its youth scholarship summer program.

For more than a decade, the City of Napa and the Napa Parks and Recreation Foundation (NPRF) have partnered to provide recreation program grants to local youth. The Foundation believes that all children should have the ability to participate in some form of recreation, regardless of ability to pay. From summer camp to swimming and tennis lessons to programs in art, music or science, the scholarship program is a catalyst for enriching the lives of Napa youth. In Napa, there are more than 4,500 children who qualify for the scholarship program.
Due to the impact of the pandemic, NPRF has recognized the need for additional monetary support for the 2022 program and is launching a fundraising campaign called “Play It Forward”. Donors will be directed toward the Give!Guide site making it easier for individuals and businesses to participate. Scholarships cover 85-95% of the fee for any youth recreational program (age 17 and under) with a $500 maximum per household. The notion of “play it forward” stands as a reminder that all youth deserve summertime “play” with guidance and inspiration by the leaders and educators of the City of Napa recreation program. Over 100 camps and recreation programs are available.
Parks, open space, and recreational facilities play an important role in building and maintaining healthy, livable communities. Parks create invaluable opportunities for recreation, play and socialization, while also playing a critical role in strengthening community ties by offering important gathering space for people of all ages to connect and socialize. Good physical and mental health are vital for ensuring Napa youth are equipped for today and the future.
