Napa PD Announces Labor Day DUI Arrests, Upcoming DUI Checkpoint
The holiday weekend may be over but the Napa Police Department is still cracking down on DUI drivers.
NAPA, CA — Four people were arrested — two on suspicion of DUI and two for outstanding warrants — Saturday, Aug. 31 and Sunday, Sept. 1 during Labor Day weekend DUI saturation patrols conducted by the Napa Police Department, a Napa police sergeant said.
A third DUI arrest was made by patrol officers who were on regular duty over the holiday weekend, Napa PD Traffic Sgt. Kristofer Jenny said.
Overall, the Napa Police Department made 120 vehicle-enforcement stops, evaluated 14 drivers using standardized field sobriety tests, cited 17 drivers for operating a vehicle without a license or on a suspended/revoked license, and issued 34 citations for other traffic violations during the holiday-weekend saturation patrols funded by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Jenny said.

Although the holiday weekend is over, the Napa Police Department is still cracking down on DUI drivers; a DUI/driver's license checkpoint is scheduled Saturday, Sept. 14 within Napa city limits, Sgt. Jenny said.
Drivers charged with DUI can expect the financial impact to be approximately $13,500, which includes the cost of fines, fees, DUI classes, license suspension and other expenses — not to mention possible jail time, the sergeant said.

"The Napa Department reminds drivers that "DUI Doesn’t Just Mean Booze,'" Jenny said. "Prescription drugs, particularly those with a driving or operating machinery warning on the label, can impair and result in a DUI. Marijuana can also be impairing, especially in combination with alcohol or other drugs."
