Napa SWAT Team Responds, Finds Man Dead Of Self-Inflicted Gunshot
Napa police were sent to a report of a gunshot at a senior complex; when no one responded, SWAT members went in with a drone.

NAPA, CA — Police found a resident of a Napa senior community dead inside his apartment Tuesday morning from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, a police lieutenant said.
Shortly after 10:30 a.m., officers went to the Rohlffs Manor Senior Apartments, 2400 Fair Drive, where a 911 caller said they heard at least one gunshot from inside one of the apartments, Napa police Lt. Chase Haag said.
Officers established a perimeter around the apartment for safety reasons, then searched the residence for shooting victims but did not immediately find any.

As officers tried to establish communication with the resident to negotiate with them to come outside and surrender, as many as 20 nearby residents were evacuated or told to shelter in place, Haag said.
Crisis negotiators tried phone calls and loudspeaker announcements in their efforts to establish communication with the resident but got no response, the lieutenant said.

At 12:20 p.m., SWAT team members with the Napa Police Department and the Napa County Sheriff's Department entered the apartment through a back door, then used a UAV — an unmanned aerial vehicle, or drone —to search the apartment and found a man dead of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, Haag said.
Police did not disclose the man's name.
"We would like to thank the managers, staff and residents at Rohlffs Manor Senior Apartments for their assistance, and patience during this difficult and unfortunate incident," Haag said.
