BBQ Competition
The 2013 Napa BBQ and Beer Festival features two highly acclaimed BBQ enthusiasts, Pat Burke and Stephen Barber. Each chef prepares three meats: chicken, beef and pork ribs. The BBQ items are served buffet style and guests help themselves to each chefs’ offerings. Side dishes are prepared by the Napa Valley Marriott’s Executive Chef, Brian Whitmer, who also is the event host and emcee.
Attendees are provided voting tokens and choose their favorites. At the end of the event, the votes are tallied and a winner is declared. Last year, after Pat Burke was named champion, he took a celebratory cannonball into the Napa Valley Marriott pool with his sous chef to celebrate. Will this be the year that Stephen Barber takes the plunge?
Beer Competition
Ten Bay Area breweries will face off to see which beer pairs best with the delicious BBQ. Guests will vote for their favorites and BBQ and Beer Battle trophies will be presented to the top two. Each guest will receive one tasting card for each of the breweries and three tickets for full glasses of the beers of their choice. Attendees will then vote for their favorite BBQ-paired beer and the winners will be announced at the conclusion of the event.
