Napa Valley Vintners Raise Record Amount At Annual Wine Auction
Wines sold at the event are some of Napa Valley's rarest.

Napa Valley Vintners raised a record $6 million at Saturday’s 19th annual Premier Napa Valley barrel tasting and auction in St. Helena. Napa Valley Vintners, a nonprofit trade group, will use the money to further its mission of protecting and growing the Napa Valley appellation.
The annual event shows off the region’s dedication to producing the highest quality innovative wines. Officials with the group said the wines sold at the event are some of Napa Valley’s rarest.
The average wholesale price of a bottle was $286.

The successful bidders, who are retailers, restaurant owners, importers and distributors, will make the collectible wines available to wine drinkers under the Premier Napa Valley label.

The record set this year just eclipsed the $5.9 million record set last year and is almost double the record of $3.1 million set in 2012.
Founded in 1944, Napa Valley Vintners has more than 500 members.
