AMERICAN CANYON, CA — National Night Out 2022 — an annual evening of neighborhood get-togethers to promote police-community camaraderie — is set for Tuesday, Aug. 2, in American Canyon, according to officials.

Throughout American Canyon, block parties are the way to celebrate.

Residents can register for drop-in visits from city council, American Canyon city staff, American Canyon Fire Protection District, American Canyon police personnel, and of course, "Lobo," the American Canyon Police Department said.

"Although we don't list the private locations, if you see one in your neighborhood — you're welcome to join them," the department said "Get to know your neighbors, and enjoy the spirit of camaraderie that neighborhood relationships create."

The nationwide National Night Out tradition began in a Pennsylvania town in 1970, and the annual campaign, intended to build police and community camaraderie, began expanding across the country in 1984.
