1. Updated: Napa Man Arrested for a Series of Residential Burglaries (contracosta.news) — Detectives say a 44-year-old Napa construction worker has been arrested in connection with a string of residential burglaries in the Hagen Road and Hillcrest Drive areas, where jewelry and handbags were taken from unlocked homes. Investigators have recovered stolen items from North Bay pawn shops and believe there may be more unreported cases countywide, urging anyone with information or surveillance video involving the suspect to contact Napa County Sheriff's detectives by email.

2. Napa Winery Worker Charged in Fire That Damaged Grape Harvests (nytimes.com) — Prosecutors in Napa County have charged a Napa man who worked at Hundred Acre Wines with recklessly causing the 2025 Pickett fire, which burned nearly 7,000 acres and heavily damaged wine grape harvests. The blaze destroyed several structures, triggered evacuations near Calistoga, and caused tens of millions in agricultural losses, with the defendant now facing possible prison time and a September court appearance in Napa County Superior Court.

3. Napa State barbering, cosmetology school has first graduate (napavalleyregister.com) — A patient at Napa State Hospital has become the first graduate of the DSH-Napa School of Barbering and Cosmetology, earning a state cosmetology license through on-site training. The program, launched in late 2024, lets patients complete 1,000 hours toward licensure while in treatment. Staff say the milestone shows how education and vocational skills can support recovery and future employment for Napa patients.

4. Crisis hits Napa Valley as ranches left to rot, wine industry on a knife's edge (amedpost.com) — Napa Valley grape growers are facing a painful combination of plunging wine demand, oversupply, and new groundwater fees that could add nearly $100 per irrigated acre to already tight budgets. Local vineyard owners describe leaving large portions of their crops unpicked, while a county fee program tied to California's groundwater law is set to appear on property tax bills in December, deepening financial strain across the region.
