Pedestrian Hit By Car At Napa Intersection In Critical Condition
A woman was struck while crossing the street in a marked crosswalk at Soscol Avenue and Pear Tree Lane, Napa police said.

NAPA, CA — A woman was hospitalized in critical condition Wednesday when she was hit by a car at a Napa intersection, according to the Napa Police Department. The pedestrian collision was reported at 2:57 p.m. at the intersection of Soscol Avenue and Pear Tree Lane, Napa police Sgt. Kristofer Jenny said in an emailed statement.
Officers responded to find the woman, an 80-year-old Napa woman, on the roadway with injuries to her head and face, Jenny said. The involved driver and a witness waited at the scene for authorities to arrive.
Personnel with the Napa Fire Department and AMR responded and after treating the woman at the scene, rushed her in an ambulance to a local hospital where she remained in critical condition, Jenny said in an email sent at 7:18 p.m. Wednesday.

Investigation of the accident closed southbound Soscol Avenue for about 45 minutes between Trancas Street and Pear Tree Lane.
Northbound Soscol was closed for a bit longer, for about four hours, between Trancas and Old Soscol Way, Jenny said.

"Members of the Napa Police Department Traffic Reconstruction Team ... determined the involved vehicle was turning onto northbound Soscol Avenue when the pedestrian was struck," Jenny said. "The pedestrian was crossing the street in a marked crosswalk. Alcohol and drugs are not believed to have been a factor in this collision."
Police did not disclose the name of the woman struck nor that of the person driving the involved vehicle.
