Napa Officer Involved In Shooting While Responding To Dispute
UPDATED: Officers heard shots fired and were told the man had a loaded gun, police said.
NAPA, CA — A Napa police officer was involved in a shooting Wednesday afternoon when officers responded to a father-son dispute.
Around 1:35 p.m. Wednesday, a resident in the 1600 block of Pear Tree Lane called 911 and said their neighbor, a 26-year-old man, pointed a gun at his father.
The man's father also called police and reported that his son was armed with a loaded gun.

As officers approached the home, they heard shots fired, Napa police Lt. Chase Haag said.
"When they arrived, they saw the man armed with a weapon acting in an imminent threatening manner," Haag said. "One officer fired his service weapon, striking him."

Officers provided life-saving emergency treatment to the man as they waited for emergency medical personnel to get there.
The injured man was taken to a nearby hospital where he was still being treated Wednesday night.
"I would like to thank the neighbors for their willingness to report this incident along with their cooperation and patience," said Napa police Chief Jennifer Gonzales. "We are also thankful for the emergency medical personnel and hospital staff who promptly treated the man."
The officer involved in the shooting was placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of an investigation.
The Napa Police Department issued a Nixle alert around 2 p.m. instructing the public to stay away from the area of Pear Tree Lane at Soscol Avenue because of the police activity.
The Napa County Major Crimes Task Force responded and secured the scene, and the Napa County Sheriff's Office has been tasked with leading the investigation.
Police asked anyone who witnessed the incident but was not yet interviewed by a member of the Napa County Major Crimes Task Force to contact the Napa Sheriff’s Investigations Unit at 707-253-4509.
