Veteran Public Agency Lawyer Starts Napa Post

NAPA VALLEY, CA — Renee Giacomini Brewer has officially stepped into her role as Napa city attorney, bringing her experience with local government operations and litigation.

Before joining Napa, Giacomini Brewer served in the Marin County Office of the County Counsel, where her roles have included multiple roles in the county counsel's office. She also has served as general counsel to the Marin Housing Authority, according to an announcement.

Giacomini Brewer has represented public agencies in state and federal courts and has tried cases in both jurisdictions.

Giacomini Brewer also advised elected officials, executive teams, public agencies, and special districts on legal and operational matters, including Brown Act and Public Records Act compliance, labor and employment issues, land use, housing and redevelopment, contracts, and complex litigation, according to the City of Napa announcement.

“Renee is an outstanding addition to our leadership team. Her deep understanding of public agency law, combined with her collaborative and steady leadership style, will help strengthen our organization and support the important work happening across our city,” Napa City Manager Steve Potter said in the announcement. “We are excited to have her join us and confident she will serve the Napa community with dedication and integrity.”

As Napa’s city attorney, Giacomini Brewer will serve as chief legal advisor to the mayor, City Council, city manager, and all city departments.

“I believe strongly in the role of local government in serving communities and improving people's daily lives,” Giacomini Brewer said in the statement. “I am excited to begin this next chapter of public service in Napa and to become part of the Napa community.”
