Proposed Changes To Long-Planned Highway 29 On Agenda Tonight

Proposed Highway 29 changes on American Canyon City Council agenda tonight.

NAPA VALLEY, CA —American Canyon City Council members will hear an update tonight on proposed changes to the long-planned Highway 29 improvement project, as transportation officials consider shifting away from roundabouts toward other traffic solutions.

The Napa Valley Transportation Authority is scheduled to present revisions to the Highway 29 plan to address congestion, safety concerns, and traffic flow along the busy north–south corridor, which serves as a primary gateway to the city.

The hard-working Highway 29 carries thousands of daily commuters, freight traffic, and visitors traveling through southern Napa County.

The updated approach may shift away from previously proposed roundabouts and instead emphasize alternative strategies, such as advanced traffic signal technology and intersection improvements to reduce delays and improve safety.

NTVA officials say community feedback and changing conditions have prompted a reevaluation of earlier concepts to deliver improvements that better balance mobility, neighborhood impacts, and cost.
