NAPA, CA — The Napa County Sheriff's Office is investigating reports of a racist message broadcast on the primary radio frequency used by the sheriff's office and the Napa Police Department.

The sheriff's office was contacted by community members who heard the message, according to Napa County Sheriff's Office Spokesman Henry Wofford, who did not disclose the content of the racist message.

"We are aware of this message, which has been broadcast repeatedly by an unauthorized, unknown person," Wofford wrote Thursday in a social media post. "The source of this broadcast is being actively investigated and the Federal Communications Commission has been advised."
