The Bodega Bay Lodge in Sonoma County has a fresh, new look thanks to some clever outdoor renovations made to the peaceful boutique hotel.

The lodge, located about an hour away from San Francisco, sits above above theprotected wetland near Doran Beach. The property boasts the Duck Club Restaurant, a fireside lounge for cocktails at sunset, a fitness center, full-service spa, dry sauna and conference center and wedding facilities. The rooms are chock-full of the comforts of home. Throw in the free nightly wine tasting featuring local wineries and Peet’s coffee during the day and guests could check in and never need to leave the property.

Hotel employees say the outdoor areas were updated last fall to create a more inviting recreation space for guests. The heated pool, graced with an eye-catching sculpture of Neptune, along with a spacious infinity whirlpool spa and cozy fire pit, create three different outdoor living spaces that lure guests to unwind while they take in sweeping views of the water. According to hotel staff, the property is constantly being upgraded and refreshed. In fact, in January of this year, the landscaping on the property began undergoing a transformation.

The hotel is located just minutes from the quaint town of Bodega Bay, best known fromAlfred Hitchcock’s 1963 movie, “The Birds.” The Potter School house featured in the movie, is just one of the many local gems that can still be found near Bodega Bay.
