Texas Man Airlifted To Hospital After Crash Near Sonoma
He was later booked on suspicion of DUI.
California Highway Patrol officers arrested a driver on suspicion of DUI after he drove off of a road and struck a tree near Sonoma Creek west of Sonoma Sunday.
Richard Stoffel, 53, of Sache, Texas, was driving a 2015 Kia Rio east on Leveroni Road east of Harris Road in unincorporated Sonoma County around 4:50 p.m., CHP officials said.
The Kia went off of the road, down an embankment and struck a tree near the creek, according to the CHP. Stoffel suffered a head injury and was flown by the Sonoma County sheriff’s helicopter Henry-1 to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital.

He was booked on suspicion of DUI under $10,000 bail and is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday morning in Sonoma County Superior Court.
