Sawmill Fire Holds At 1,500 Acres; Containment Improves To 45% [UPDATE]
BREAKING: Evacuations, road closures lifted.

SONOMA COUNTY, CA – UPDATED: TUESDAY, SEPT. 27, 5:37 a.m.
The 1,500-acre wildfire burning in unincorporated Sonoma County since Sunday is 45 percent contained, a Cal Fire spokeswoman said.
All mandatory evacuation orders and road closures had been lifted as of 6 p.m. Monday.

The Sawmill Fire began around 11 a.m. Sunday and is located near Geysers and Geysers Resort roads, about 10 miles east of Cloverdale, Cal Fire spokeswoman Christina Barker said.
Twenty to 30 homes were evacuated on the Cloverdale side of Geysers Road from Pine Mountain Road to Geysers Resort Road.

A shelter was set up at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church at 1402 University St. in Healdsburg, Sonoma County sheriff's officials said.
Two minor injuries were reported, but no structures were damaged, Barker said. The cause is under investigation.
A separate fire Monday afternoon in Santa Rosa burned five to seven acres in Annadel State Park.
Firefighters with the Santa Rosa Fire Department tweeted at 2:18 p.m. that multiple resources had responded. By 3:39 p.m. the fire's forward progress had been stopped and firefighters had kept the fire to five to seven
acres.
No one was injured and no buildings were damaged, Cal Fire officials said. No evacuations were necessary. The cause is under investigation, according to Cal Fire.

The 2-day-old Sawmill Fire in unincorporated Sonoma County held steady overnight at 1,500 acres with containment advancing to 20 percent, according to Cal Fire.
The Sawmill Fire began around 11 a.m. Sunday and is located near Geysers and Geysers Resort roads, about 10 miles east of Cloverdale, officials said.
A water tender rollover accident occurred at the fire scene on Geysers Road Sunday afternoon, but no injuries were reported, Cal Fire said.
Firefighters at the scene now number 473, along with participating agency assistance from CAL PINE, Napa County Fire, Cloverdale FPD, Geyserville FPD, Healdsburg FD, Windsor FPD, Sonoma and Lake County Sheriff's Office, California Highway Patrol and the state Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, Cal Fire said.
