Say Hello To Napa Valley School District's Assistant Superintendent!
Alejandro Hogan will oversee Human Resources.

Alejandro Hogan, current superintendent at South San Francisco Unified School District, has been named the assistant superintendent for Human Resources, following his approval by the Board of Trustees at its March 19 meeting.
Hogan, who has 28 years’ experience in education, takes the reins from Dr. Ashley Halliday, who will retire at the end of June after 5 years as assistant superintendent. His first official day on the job is July 1.

“We welcome Alejandro Hogan to Napa Valley Unified, and are looking forward to his leadership and expertise,” said Superintendent Patrick Sweeney. “In order to best serve our students, we want to maintain a stellar human resources function, ensuring that the best people are in the right positions, whether they are in the classroom or providing support to learning and schools.”
The assistant superintendent for Human Resources is responsible for recruitment and hiring, salary and benefits administration, evaluation and discipline, affirmative action, labor laws, and labor relations and collective bargaining agreements for approximately 1,800 employees at NVUSD. Hogan will supervise a staff of 10. The salary range for the position is $145,000 to $184,000.

“I am very excited to be part of the Napa Valley Unified School District,” Hogan said. “I bring my experience, expertise and energy to serve as resource to employees and parents. I want to ensure quality and diversity of our workforce in order to serve our students. I will pursue excellence in the development and implementation of HR practices.”
Hogan received his master’s degree in Spanish and Latin American Literature from UC Santa Barbara and a school administration credential from San Jose State University. He is a member of the Association of California School Administrators (ACSA) and the incoming president of the California Association of Latino Superintendents and Administrators (CALSA). He has previously worked at school districts in Salinas and Soquel and was a language instructor for the Defense Language Institute in Monterey.
He and his wife, Vickie, have three adult children. They currently live in San Mateo, but are planning to move to Napa soon.
