Scorched Earth: Photos of Exhausting Battle Against Cold Fire

The wildfire has burned nearly 4,700 acres.

YOLO COUNTY, CA — Just two days after the start of the Cold Fire, Calfire has mustered 809 fire personnel in the battle--firefighters, pilots, bulldozer operators and more. (See more photos below this story)

The fire is holding at 4,700 acres and 15 percent containment. All evacuation orders have been lifted, but Canyon Creek Campground is still closed.

The exertion needed to battle the fire in challenging conditions is reflected in the body language of firefighters, weary from their efforts.
