Smitten with Kittens? The Animal Shelter Has One for You!

The Napa Animal Shelter can make you a deal on a life-time companion, spayed and/or neutered, micro-chipped and more.

If you spend all your time watching cute kitten videos on You Tube, then it is time to think about adopting the real thing. Nothing like the real life 3D ‘screen savers’ for the home to get you away from you computer!

It’s a great time to "upgrade" too, as the is having their “Meow Madness” special, with between 36-46 kittens available for adoption in the shelter right now.

Shelter staffer Angie Creech is encouraging those interested in bringing a cat into their home to come visit the shelter and check out the kittens on hand ready for good homes.

When asked why so many kittens, she said, “It’s that time of year.”  If you ever needed a reason to spay or neuter your cat, you need look no further.

While the cages of kittens meowing their heads off for attention may seem cute, the issues with the overpopulation of cats is brought home when you see these tiny little things stuck in cages reaching their paws out at you.

The Shelter is running a special on kittens right now: $37 will get you out the door with a wonderful, friendly and amazingly cute bundle of fur that has been spayed or neutered, and micro-chipped (so if your new friend goes stray it can be reunited with you).

You'll also get 2 days of food, a cat carrier box, and a hand-made bedding blanket called a Critter Comforter made and donated by the wonderful folks at the non-profit Napa Valley Dog Training Club.

Please remember that adopting a kitten is a commitment and responsibility that can easily last 20 years or more, so make sure you are ready, able and willing to live with your animal companion for a long time.

Angie encourages people to think about adopting two kittens as they will bond and can provide entertainment for each other.

Can’t bring a cat into your home right now but want to help? The Napa Valley Dog Training Club always needs donations of old blankets, fleece, yarn and flannel out of which they make the Critter Comforters.

Handy with a sewing machine? They would love your help in putting these things together and you can rest assured they get put to good use!

The shelter has many other dogs, cats and rabbits available for adoption into good homes. Stop by the shelter at 942 Hartle Court six days a week, from noon till 4:45 p.m. For more information, call (707) 253-4381 or visit the Shelter’s web site.
