Three Year Old Fairfield Boy Battling a Brain Tumor Uses Wish to Build Play Structure at his Daycare Center

Unveiling on May 4th

May 2, 2016—San Francisco. Three year old Fairfield native Ossar is an active little boy with a lot of energy, but the daycare where he has spent his days since he was a baby doesn’t have anything for him to climb, slide or swing on. So for Ossar, the perfect wish was to have a play structure he could play on every day, which is why he decided to have it built at his daycare center!

Ossar has been through a lot in his short life, having undergone brain surgery for a tumor. But when his volunteer wish grantors, Megan Vaneck and Melinda Devera, first met him they said “Boy does this kid have energy! You would never guess that he was ever sick based on his exuberant energy and nonstop smile.”

Now, thanks to the support of a team of volunteers from KPMG who built it, Ossar’s wish for a play structure at his daycare center is coming true. Because of Ossar’s surgery, his parents asked for the structure to be built atop a soft material that would prevent serious injury in case of a fall. The play structure features a glider, swings, slide, acrobat bar, and a rock wall.

On Wednesday, May 4th, Ossar will have his wish unveiled, complete with a cake. Ossar’s wish grantors will be there, along with his family and friends, to help celebrate. The media are invited to attend.

“Wishes like Ossar’s are wonderful not only because of how much they affect the child, but because they touch so many other people too. Ossar’s wish is the result of many people’s generosity, time and attention, and by having his play structure built at his daycare center, many other children will be able to enjoy it. This is the power of a wish.” says Make-A-Wish Greater Bay Area Executive Director, Patricia Wilson.
