Uptick In Coronavirus Cases Reported In Calistoga

CALISTOGA, CA — Citing an uptick in the number of coronavirus cases in Calistoga, the city urged residents to wear face coverings and practice physical distancing.

"The Napa County Health Director has reported a significant increase in new cases in Calistoga during the month of September," city officials said.

According to the county's website, there have been 122 total cases in the city of Calistoga since the outbreak began. Countywide, there have been 1,652 cases reported since March.

A county spokesperson did not have the exact number of cases thus far in September in Calistoga, but confirmed there has been an uptick in the city.

"County wide, cases are down," Interim Napa County Spokeswoman Janet Upton said. "In fact, we are in the fourth week in a row of having a case count below 100."

"... Napa was one of the first counties in the state to achieve the less restrictive (than Purple Tier) Red Tier status and we remain solidly in that tier," Upton said in an emailed response to Patch.

Still, the city of Calistoga, which had 58 cases at the end of July, told residents Wednesday that it's "important to remain vigilant in practicing physical distancing, wear a face covering when in stores or when physical distancing is not practical, wash your hands frequently and use hand sanitizer."

"Please continue to support each other and follow best practices to keep our community safe and minimize the spread of Covid19," the city said. "Thank you for your continued cooperation and assistance as we continue to move forward."

  • South Napa Area: 16
  • Town of Yountville: 13
  • Angwin: 13
  • Unincorporated area of West Napa and Yountville: 12
  • Pope Valley Area: 7
