Water-Wise Plant Workshop Planned In Napa

"Lucky winners will even take home free plants and other great door prizes," according to the city of Napa.

NAPA, CA – Just in time for the fall planting season, the city of Napa Water, UC Master Gardeners and the California Native Plant Society are teaming up for a free Water-Wise Plant Show. The event is planned from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15, at the newly renovated Magnolia Room in the city's Senior Center, 1500 Jefferson St.

"Our unpredictable climate makes water efficiency and conservation a way of life here," said Jaina French, city of Napa spokeswoman. "The start of the planting season is a great time to learn appropriate water-wise gardening habits, as efficient outdoor use remains the key to a reliable water future."

With slide presentations and dozens of live plants on hand, local landscape designer Katherine Novick will show Napans that water-efficient yards are anything but boring. Colorful and beautiful trees, shrubs, perennials, grasses, vines and groundcovers will be reviewed, along with landscape design ideas focused on California native species.
