NAPA VALLEY, CA — The Knoxville and Cedar Roughs wildlife areas were closed Friday in due to their close proximity to the threatening Hennessy and LNU Lighting Complex fires. Hunting seasons in the areas have been closed for the rest of the year, the California Department of Fish and Wildlife announced Friday.

The wildlife areas have been closed for hiking, hunting and all other public uses until further notice. The closures were announced after officials deemed the areas unsafe for use.

The closures will also help the state's Fish and Wildlife Department evaluate the effects of the wildfire.
