2 Tri-City Men Pleaded 'No Contest' to Robbery Charges

Prableen Singh, 22, of Fremont and Manjot Dhillon, 24, of Union City, are scheduled to be sentenced in January.

Two suspects pleaded no contest last week to robbing a 67-year-old retired U.S. Marine in Fremont in April, police said. Police said Prableen Singh, 22, of Fremont and Manjot Dhillon, 24, of Union City, both pleaded no contest to the armed robbery charges on Wednesday. They are scheduled for sentencing in January.

Police said the men robbed a 67-year-old retired U.S. Marine at gunpoint while the victim was using a Bank of America ATM at 40820 Fremont Blvd. The robbery occurred April 9 at 1:15 a.m. Police said a carload of suspects drove up to the ATM, and Singh exited the vehicle, pointed a handgun at the victim and demanded his wallet.

The victim threw his wallet to Singh, and Singh got into the car driven by Dhillon and they fled the area. Police said Singh and an unidentified juvenile male used the victim’s debit card an hour later at a Fremont 7-Eleven. Police said investigators were able to identify Singh and Dhillon as suspects through surveillance photos, physical evidence and witness statements.
