We lost another large eucalyptus tree from the grounds of the Cedar Glenn condo complex again tonight. I assume the roots gave way in the rain-saturated ground. Another even larger tree on the other side of Port Sailwood Drive fell about two weeks ago. Both fell into the southbound lanes of Cedar Boulevard and blocked traffic. We heard it crash, a little after 10 pm. By the time I figured out where it was and came back into the house to call the police, they already knew about it and had someone on the way. (It can’t have been the only tree to fall in Newark today.) The photo here is a screen grab from Google street view, shot last spring, but that’s the tree (in drier times.)
