Bay Area Wages Increase Faster Than National Average

Workers in Bay Area businesses saw their wages and salaries increase by 3.3 percent over the year ending in March, officials with the U.S. Department of Labor announced Wednesday.
The 3.3 percent increase was better than the U.S. average of 3 percent.
Bay Area total compensation, which consists of wages and benefits, was up 3 percent over the year compared to 2.8 percent nationwide.

Since 2015, Bay Area employers have paid an average of 2.8 percent more per year to compensate workers, labor officials said.
