Worldwide Knit in Public Day is Saturday
World Wide Knit in Public Day - June 11, 2011

World Wide Knit in Public Day is June 11, 2011.
That's when we are celebrating the best little hobby in the world, in my humble opinion.
I started a group for knitting 5 years ago and I taught a number of girls and, yes, boys, how to knit.

This can be a very frustrating exercise when you are first beginning. I can tell you. I learned how from a woman who was very important to me many years ago. Then I retaught myself using the books in the library.
I started this group and then I turned it over to a wonderful teacher who has a steady 8-10 women coming every week to spend time with her and show off what they are working on.

Colette Pispisa is the teacher of the Newark Library's Stitch an Inch group. They meet every other Saturday from 12:30-2:30 but on this Saturday, June 11, 2011 they are going to be knitting or crocheting or running a spinning wheel for upwards of 3 hours from 12:30-4 p.m. in honor of the World Wide Knit in Public Day.
Come on by and say hello. Or better yet, bring some needles, size 7 or 8 will do nicely, and some lovely new yarn to work, and give it a whirl. Knitters are the nicest ladies you might ever want to meet.
