Rotary Invites Newark to the Inaugural Collaborative Impact Summit

Inspire. Collaborate. Act.

On Saturday, September 19, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Rotary District 5170 will transform the San Jose McEnery Convention Center into a daylong showcase of the people, projects, and partnerships making a difference across our region. Whether you're a longtime Rotary supporter, a curious neighbor, or someone who simply wants to learn what local nonprofits are doing in your backyard, this is the event to attend.

What to Expect

The summit brings together Rotary clubs from throughout the district alongside the community partners they work with. A Project Fair at the heart of the day will let attendees meet dozens of nonprofits and service organizations face to face, learn about their missions, and discover ways to get involved.

The speaker lineup is equally impressive. Vicki Puliz, a Rotary International Trustee, and Wyn Spiller, a Rotary International Director, will frame the global reach of Rotary's work. Shirley Grace, an advocate for polio eradication, will share the story of a campaign that has brought the world to the brink of ending the disease. Blind Paralympic track and field medalist Lex Gillette will deliver an inspiring message about what's possible when barriers are removed. And Kevin Brookhouser, founder of GapJump AI, will explore how technology is opening new doors for community impact.

Local voices round out the program. Jagi Shahani of Cupertino Rotary will highlight a water project that's changing lives, Director-General David Chih-Hsiang Wu will speak on international collaboration during CoVID, and three Rotary scholarship awardees; Marialisa Caruso, Emily Vokach-Brodsky, and Alexandra Gallo, will share how Rotary support shaped their paths. San Jose Rotary's own Blake Ward will emcee the event.

Why It Matters

This inaugural summit, a single gathering designed to spark cross-club collaboration, introduce prospective members to Rotary, and, most importantly, show the broader community the lasting impact Rotary and its partners are creating locally and around the world.
