Car Thieves Busy In Newark

From Friday through Monday, there were multiple cars stolen or theft attempts. One stolen car was recovered.

NEWARK, CA — Newark Police report multiple car thefts and attempted vehicle thefts over the past four days. One car, a Volkswagon Beetle, was even stolen out of a home's garage.

A car stolen from Hayward was found abandoned in Newark. No arrests in connection to the thefts have been announced.

Jan. 15

-2117 Hours: Officer Piquette investigated a residential burglary on the 35300 block of Severn Drive. A Red 2000 Volkswagen Beetle (CA License# DSED) was also stolen from the garage.

Jan. 14

-1135 Hours: Officer Nobbe recovered a Honda Civic that was reported stolen out of Hayward on the 5400 block of Central Avenue. The vehicle was released to the registered owner.

Jan. 13

-1634 Hours: Officer Nobbe investigated the theft of a 2002 Blue Pontiac Grand Am from Pic N Pull, 7400 Mowry Avenue.

Jan. 12

-0136 Hours: Officer Wallace investigated an attempted vehicle theft on the 39100 block of Ebbetts Street.

-0241 Hours: Officer Quinones investigated an attempted vehicle theft at NewPark Mall, 5920 NewPark Mall Drive.
