Family Of 3 Displaced In Newark House Fire

No injuries reported in the mid-week blaze on Lafayette Avenue.

NEWARK, CA – A residential fire last week on the 6200 block of Lafayette Avenue in Newark was extinguished within 20 minutes by the Alameda County Fire Department, but did cause major heat and smoke damage and displaced a family of three, two adults and an 8-year-old boy, officials said.

The blaze was reported Wednesday at 7:29 p.m. at the one-story home.

No injuries to the occupants or firefighters were reported. The residents were working with their insurance company to manage their immediate needs, the agency said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. Paramedics Plus, the Newark Police Department and PG&E also responded to the incident.
