Firefighters Contain 4 Acre Brush Fire in Newark

The fire occurred in the 38000 block of Eureka Drive.

Firefighters contained a vegetation fire in Newark Sunday night, an Alameda County Fire Department spokeswoman said. Crews responded to a report of the fire in the area of the 38000 block of Eureka Drive around 7:45 p.m., fire spokeswoman Aisha Knowles said.

The blaze burned about three to four acres of high brush and was contained around 8:30 p.m., Knowles said. The fire was near railroad tracks and close to the city border to Fremont, she said. The fire didn’t threaten any structures, and no injuries were reported.

An Alameda County Fire Department dozer and the Fremont Fire Department also assisted in the fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
